About the Proprietor

It was never easy for me... I was born a poor black child... No, wait, that was Steve Martin in "The Jerk". I actually grew up in a large middle class family in rural Pennsylvania. As such I had access to 2 kinds of music growing up: Country and Western. (Well actually we had a crappy Top 40 station too).  And being completely rural meant no access to cable or MTV.  For obvious reasons I spent very little time listening to the radio as a young teenager.

Arriving at college in 1988 as a 17 year old country bumpkin I found myself in a whirlwind of sounds I never even knew existed. I was like a kid in a candy store sampling new types of music.  I spent a few years being a classic rock junkie which didn't take long to get stale.  I then went tumbling into the modern/alternative rock scene before eventually turning into a soulless work a day stiff somewhere around 1997 and basically lost touch.  Fade to black...

Fast forward... December 2001: With my career heading down the toilet I had more time on my hands and I welcomed the arrival of broadband cable modem service.  I was once again reborn and spending time back in the candy store sampling as much new music as I could find.  This time around though I stumbled onto Live 365 which allows me to share my journey with you.

And again my musical tastes seem to be shifting and expanding.  Lately it seems the modern rock scene is once again becoming choked with deadwood foisted on us by the corporate rock machine.  It's certainly ripe for a forest fire to wipe it out to allow some new seeds to sprout and take root.  So, here I am wandering through the Indie scene looking for a few seedlings to nurture.  I still have plenty of grove stands of artists that were healthy enough to survive the ground clearing and I will continue to play them along with whatever new artists I find interesting.
